Fun with Saidat!!

Today we were fortunate to view a presentation by Saidat.  Saidat is a motivational speaker who inspires, motivates and empowers individuals by her selfless commitment to help build a better community. Today she spoke to the children on how to survive school by caring for themselves and being kind to others.  The main message of her presentation was that ONE PERSON CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE, BUT TOGETHER WE CAN CHANGE THE WORLD!!
Below are some pictures and a special video of the grade 4,5 and 6 hip-hop workshop.  Way to go Raptors!  For more information about Saidat, visit her website at www.saidat.ca

Here are some of our photos!

Hallowe'en Door Fun

This year at LDS we had a Hallowe'en Door Decorating Contest.  Sometimes they drive me 'batty' but I love them all! :)

Great to Meet You!

It was a pleasure to meet those parents who came out to our "Meet the Staff" BBQ.
We are are so fortunate to have so many wonderful families here at Lakeshore Discovery!

Be sure to check out the individual pages on this blog for information about what your child is doing at school.

Building into your child's routine a time to do homework each day will enhance their learning. A general guideline for Junior (Grade 4-6) students is 20-30 minutes a night; however, additional time may also be required for test preparation and projects. Homework may include completion of class work, practice, review, preparation for upcoming activities and visiting links on the blog to reinforce skills taught.

Both grades 4 and 5 will have a social studies quiz this Friday.  We have been doing lots of review in class. Be sure to check out the 'Canada' video and games on the Social Studies page.

Welcome to our class blog! My goal is to create a wonderful place to share our learning, reflections and ideas. Here, you can read about and see what we've been doing at school and it will also be a place where you can access websites to use at home to support our learning. It will replace monthly newsletters, so that we can proudly do our part to save paper and help our environment. Click on the subjects at the top of the page to see what we've been working on. Visit the bookshelf to see the latest books we've read. Soon we will have photos posted so you can begin to "see" what we have been doing in Grade 4/5! Enjoy:)
