WRITING

Narratives  are fictional stories.
We are learning to identify parts of a narrative as we read or listen to stories so that we can include these features when we write our own stories!
Parts of a narrative include: characters, setting, problem, climax (most exciting part), events (plot) and solution.

Writing Descriptive Winter Narratives
We have brainstormed on our own about the parts of our winter narrative. We are all writing our own stories

with a winter or Christmas theme.

READING

WE ARE LEARNING TO SUMMARIZE TEXTS BY INCLUDING IMPORTANT DETAILS ABOUT THE BEGINNING, MIDDLE, AND END SO THAT WE CAN UNDERSTAND THE MAIN IDEA OF WHAT WE READ.

Summarizing means to 'shrink' a text and retell only the important details. We are now summarizing fiction and non-fiction texts into 4-5 sentences.
